Kuwait Energy achieves ISO 9001:2008 certification

Kuwait, March 11, 2012 - Kuwait Energy, one of the fastest growing independent oil and gas exploration and production companies in the Middle East, announces that its quality management system has successfully achieved the ISO 9001:2008 certification standard.

The ISO family of standards is the only international standard that addresses systematic change and ensures a company’s quality management system fulfils best practices. The ISO 9001 system defines and continuously improves a company’s quality processes at strategic, operational and individual levels.

Kuwait Energy Chief Operating Officer, Mohammad Al-Howqal, said:

“As one of the leading independent energy companies in the Middle East, with operations in eight countries, and with 500 employees, the ISO certification is a natural step in our growth. It also emphasizes our commitment to best practices in all aspects of the Company’s operations.”

The successful implementation of the standards places Kuwait Energy on a par with other international, independent energy firms.

Kuwait Energy used the services of Al-Noor International Consultants, an ISO consultancy service provider, for the development and implementation of the ISO 9001 quality management system. An ISO team of Kuwait Energy internal auditors was formed to represent all departments and lead yearly ISO audits to maintain the certification. Bureau Veritas, a global leader in conformity assessment and certification services, assessed Kuwait Energy’s management system and verified that it conforms to the set requirements, with zero non-conformities.

Kuwait Energy is one of the few independent oil and gas exploration and production companies operating in the Middle East. It has been profitable since its establishment in 2005 and currently operates in Egypt, Iraq, Yemen, Oman, Ukraine, Latvia, Russia and Pakistan. Kuwait Energy’s proven and probable reserves at year end 2010 were 48.8 million barrels of oil equivalent and its current production has reached an approximate level of 17,500 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
